The Building Industry Association of Central California (BIACC) is a nonprofit trade association representing 300 member companies who are engaged in all aspects of the home building industry. From building homes to providing worker’s compensation insurance, our members keep the Central California building industry alive.
It has been said that home ownership is the quintessential fulfillment of the American dream. I could not agree more. Home ownership signifies the sacrifice, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit of the American people. Government fees and regulation, environmental activism, slow or no growth proponents all combine to make the prospect of home ownership more expensive, but we have been able to weather increased cost of homes due to low interest rates. The positive side of government fees is that new development provides capital funding to municipalities, which in turn use the funding for vital services, new parks, schools, increase capacity for water and sewer and other facilities, and finance the day-to-day operations of local government. Purchasing a home not only benefits the home buyer, but buttresses the local economy. Studies show that the typical new homeowner spends an average of about $8,900.00 in amenities for their new home. Given that new development accounts for about 18 percent of California’s economy, property taxes, sales tax and discretionary spending all accrue to the benefit of a local community’s economic health with the sale of every new home. If you buy a home, rest assured that interest rates are at a historic low and making buying a home now an even better buy. Enjoy!
